Why do we get it?
Hyperhidrosis tends to emerge in late adolescence, although some people do find it happens earlier or later in life. There are many reasons why some of us suffer with the condition but it is most often a side effect of a thyroid problem, diabetes or an infection so we’d always recommend you visit your doctor if you’re concerned.
Prevention and Reduction
The first step is to visit your GP and make sure your excessive sweating isn’t caused by anything that needs attention. For many people it is simply a very annoying and often embarrassing condition that is difficult to prevent. The temptation is to wash multiple times a day but this often stimulates the sweat glands and can actually make the problem worse. Instead, shower or bath once a day, use strong deodorants with anti-perspirant qualities and wear loose fitting clothing made of natural materials.
Effective treatments for excessive sweating
Treating excessive sweating is very simple. At The Harley Medical Group, our doctors can inject a product into your sweat glands that essentially paralyses them and prevents excessive sweating. The formula, which is also commonly used to treat lines and wrinkles, is quick to administer, is virtually pain-free and works instantly. We recommend top-up injections every six months to keep your Hyperhidrosis under control.
