Aftercare

With you every step of the way

As part of our commitment to deliver outstanding patient care, many of our procedures can be carried out under local anaesthetic as day cases, ensuring there is minimum disruption to your everyday routine. You will also be discharged with a comprehensive set of post-operative guidelines, plus for extra peace of mind, you will also have access to our 24/7 emergency out-of-hours phone number so that you can speak to a member of our nursing team whenever you need them.

All our hospitals are well established, Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered and audited, and have a long history of delivering excellent care.

Each hospital has good patient satisfaction ratings and feedback and are well equipped to deliver the standards of care we expect for our patients.

Public body and government regulation

The group is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England. The CQC an executive non-departmental public body, part of the Department of Health and Social Care.

NHS

As well as working with The Harley Medical Group to deliver cosmetic surgery, most of our expert surgeons hold substantive posts within the National Health Service (NHS) Trusts throughout the UK.

The posts within the NHS are not limited to cosmetic procedures and include oncology (cancer treatments), gynaecology, dermatology and more.

Professional medical and healthcare memberships

All medical specialist consultants, surgeons and doctors which work with The Harley Medical Group are registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and are on the Specialist Register of Plastic Surgeons.

The General Medical Council helps protect patients and improve UK medical education and practice by supporting students, doctors, educators and healthcare providers. All our medical experts have their GMC number listed on their profiles for our clients’ reference.

Alongside our medical and cosmetic consultants, our specialist nurses are all registered and validated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). The NMC is the nursing regulator for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. All our nurses are experienced and trained in their cosmetic specialities.

As well as having memberships with the compulsory medical and healthcare regulators in the UK, all our surgical specialist have additional memberships, above and beyond these requirements. These include the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (EBOPRAS), the Royal College of Surgeons, the Medical Defence Union (MDU) and more.

The current Covid-19 pandemic
In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, we have introduced a number of extra safety measures in all of our clinics for the reassurance of our patients.

Breast Safety Charter

Our Breast Safety Charter covers our comprehensive care from pre to post appointment and highlights we only use Mentor Breast implants, which are owned by Johnson & Johnson, are US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved and come with a 10 year warranty and more.

The charter also outlines the use of our Keller Funnel technique, which limits hand contact during a breast augmentation procedure which reduces the chance of infection, requires smaller incisions and can lead to shorter recovery times.

Clinical Governance Team

Our clinical governance team consists of medical experts and operational leaders from across our group.

The group meets regularly to discuss clinical excellence, clinical governance, surgeon performance, patient satisfaction and introduction of new treatments.

Each new consultant or treatment we introduce to the business is thoroughly vetted before being introduced to our patients.

This involves detailed qualification, reference and experience checks for doctors, surgeons and consultants and studying research and clinical trials for treatments.
